Monastyrskiy Island, Dnepropetrovsk

If you come down from one of the hills in Dnepropetrovsk, you reach the Dnepr river. There's two things you'll encounter : the Shevchenko Park, on the right bank and the Monastyrskiy Island. This island is one of the landmarks of the city. It's history is also surrounded by legend. It is said that the early orthodox, the Byzantian monks had based a monastery here, thus making it a place of religious interest these days. Worth seeing.
