The Catacombs of Odessa

Posted 1 year ago by avatar frank in response to igor's question: Are there really kilometer long catacombs under the city of Odessa? (give a different answer) .

I must be honest. The only thing that made me go visit Odessa was the famous catacombs I had heard about. I tried to find as much as possible about them. It seems appeared because the people started digging for limestone and over the centuries thousands of kilometers of tunnels appeared. To take a guided tour of the catacombs and get real information go to the Museum of Partisan Glory. The best preserved network of tunnels is the one in Nerubayiske. It is said partisans used to hide in here during WW2. You should check it out, if you ever get to Odessa.
